David Axelrod on the Stimulus Package
I watched the news programs today as I do on many Sunday mornings. David Axelrod, a senior advisor for President Obama was a featured guest on one of the programs.
I became troubled and somewhat worried when I heard Axelrod talking about the economy and the recently passed stimulus package. Redux from MSNBC:
“He says he expects the rise of unemployment to be slowed by the bill’s passage and implementation.”
Axelrod claims the effects of the stimulus package will be seen soon. While I appreciate his optimism, the truth is that David Axelrod has no more insight into the economic situation than you and I. To support this fact, I quickly did some research on him. He was a political science major, then a journalist turned political consultant. I couldn’t find the word economist anywhere in his credentials.
Brace yourself for the true reality. Don’t believe anyone who makes unfounded predictions about the effects of the stimulus package on the economy. We can be hopeful that the stimulus package will work for the future of our country but don’t have unrealistic expectations.
