Oregon Central Coast Painting

July 10th, 2009
I don’t know what to call the style I’ve been dabbling in over the past weeks.   I realize its not realism but I never said I was trying to achieve that either.    I’ve often had a problem where I remember things more vividly and saturated that they really were.   So I try to get the picture to look like what I remember.
In this before/after sequence you can see what I started with and how it ended up.    Note:   All the editing was done in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Got comments?   I’d love to hear them on this one.

The concept of making the print as vivid as you remember makes sense. I think this is a main reason many people get frustrated with their casual photos, its not exactly what they remember. You’ve really given Lyss the effect of being backlit in a stylized way, but its well done. I’m intrigued as to how you cropped the bench from the lower right corner, but seem to keep the same perspective/ratios elsewhere in the photo, how did you do that? Was it just through zoom?
