Maryland Direct Wine Shipping Law Problems

March 31st, 2011

It allows 18 shipments per year, but Maryland citizens are only allowed to buy wine shipped directly from wineries. The bill does not allow people to buy wine from retail outlets or auction houses.

Sorry everyone – you aren’t going to be shipping in that hard to find beer.

Isn’t it like the Maryland legislature to implement a half-measure. *sigh*

You didn’t really think they were going to make it easy or even possible to do? The distributors will not allow any law to be passed that they do not want. I also liked the $200 annual fee wineries will have to pay to ship to Marylanders….still worked out better then the ‘Bait and Switch’ for the alcohol sales tax!
