Oregon Central Coast Painting

July 10th, 2009 1 comment
I don’t know what to call the style I’ve been dabbling in over the past weeks.   I realize its not realism but I never said I was trying to achieve that either.    I’ve often had a problem where I remember things more vividly and saturated that they really were.   So I try to get the picture to look like what I remember.
In this before/after sequence you can see what I started with and how it ended up.    Note:   All the editing was done in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Got comments?   I’d love to hear them on this one.

War against Chipmunks

July 6th, 2009 2 comments

They have ruined one of my paver walkways and now they must go!    So yesterday I bought a non-lethal trap and set it up.    To my surprise, I’ve already caught one and will be relocating it after work somewhere far from my house.

As I continue my quest, I’ll be updating the counter on this site.
Stay tuned..

Hilton Head Island Sunset

July 1st, 2009 1 comment

My friend (Matt) visited Hilton Head Island last fall and snapped a great sunset picture.    I reframed the photo, processed in Lightroom, and then edited in Photoshop.    Then I turned it into a gallery print.   Enjoy.

Spring Dogwood Blossoms

June 25th, 2009 Comments off

Shot this one a while back but had never got around to processing.    The colors are a little pushed and I dampened the fill light to look more like a studio shot.  Enjoy.

The Downfall Of Legg Mason

June 23rd, 2009 2 comments
Legg Mason, a prominent mutual fund company based in Baltimore, MD, showed its true hand yesterday.   If there is any doubt that this company has learned anything from the bank industry downfall, then let me show you why I doubt it.

In a year which has seen the following highlights:

Then this comes across the wire on Monday:

Legg Mason’s Fetting nets $6.5M in 2009 compensation

“In raising Fetting’s compensation, the company’s board of directors considered Fetting’s “accomplishments during the year, including his leadership during one of the worst financial crises of the last 100 years,” Athridge said in an e-mailed statement.

Fetting was credited with helping the company raise $1.15 billion in capital, recruiting new top executives, cutting expenses by $135 million and selling off billions in structured investment vehicles, or SIVs, from the company’s money market funds, Athridge said.”

Leadership worth a 39% raise?  Am I missing something or was it Fetting’s leadership that guided the company into these problems?    Yep, wait for it – from Legg Mason’s own site:

Mark Fetting joined Legg Mason in June 2000 as Senior Advisor focusing on strategy.

In case you didn’t read the article earlier – Baltimore-based Legg Mason (NYSE:LM) lost $1.9 billion for the year ended March 31
