Another one in the series from the Japanese Garden in Portland, OR.    Enjoy.

Over the past weeks, I’ve been working on my Photoshop skills.   I’ve been processing photos and turning them into “artwork” (something I would be proud to display in a gallery).     This print was taken from the Japanese Garden in Portland, OR during our recent trip.      Hopefully, its unnoticeable but there was a substantial amount of retouching on this image.

Looking from the Washington Monument …

Another photo in a postcard style.   Taken during the Cherry Blossom Festival this photo attempts to capture the energy on the National Mall that day.   

Watching the demonstration of the canon drills was interesting.  Especially when trying to get the shot of the canon fire itself.   Enjoy.

Smugmug – why use it?    I like the complete control over my photos.   Some get exposed to the public, I can create groups for others, no size limits and best of all – NO ads.

Adobe Lightroom – this is the killer app for any photographer.   I fits into your workflow nicely, cataloging, developing and rendering.  It took a while to get my brain around this app but I won’t go back now.

• Jeffrey Friedl’s Export to Smugmug (other services available too, Flickr, Picasa, etc)
• Jeffrey Friedl’s “GPS Support“ Geoencoding Plugin

During our travels in Portland, a bunch of pelicans flew right towards us.     I’m finally getting around to processing some of these photos in Adobe Lightroom.

This place is great.   Nice rooms,  HD TV and happy hour that starts @ 10pm.  Did I mention $3 mac-n-cheese yet?    Its a vintage hotel with everything from the 30’s and a classic movie theme.

Only drawback so far, trash can emptying at 4am.     Grrrr.
